Multi-pet insurance — There is no single policy covering every animal in a household : each animal has its own contract. Grouping them with the same insurer does simplify matters a great deal — one point of contact, one renewal date, one online account. A commercial discount from the second animal can sometimes be obtained, but no insurer publishes it : it has to be asked for and negotiated. Prialys, an independent broker, brings your policies together and negotiates the best terms available for your situation.

  • Freedom of choice: Prialys, independent broker, freely compares market offers for your pet.
  • Savings: benefit from negotiated rates through our broker status and privileged partnerships.
  • Custom coverage: a level of cover matched to each animal, according to its age and state of health.
  • Support: a dedicated contact for subscription, management and claims.

Multi-Pet Insurance coverage options

CriterionWhat the market offers
PrincipleOne policy per animal. No insurer offers a single contract for a whole household
Multi-pet discountNot published by insurers. To be asked for, negotiated case by case and priced at quotation
Species that can be combinedDogs and cats with every insurer. Exotic pets only with those offering a NAC range: rabbit, ferret, parrot, chinchilla, guinea pig
Reimbursement rateFrom 60 % to 100 % for dogs and cats, up to 85 % for exotic pets, chosen per animal
Annual limitFrom 1 000 € to 4 000 € per dog or cat, 400 € or 800 € per exotic pet
Annual excessFrom 0 € to 75 € per animal, depending on the plan
Prevention allowanceA separate allowance per policy, from 30 € to 200 € per year for dogs and cats
Combined administrationCommon renewal date, single online account, one dedicated contact

Identical plans for everyone are usually a mistake. An older animal, or one of a breed with known predispositions, justifies a higher level of cover, while a young healthy animal can sit on an entry-level plan. Any discount is negotiated independently of the level of cover chosen.

Ranges recorded in August 2026 across several French pet insurers. The existence and amount of any discount, like the cover values themselves, vary by insurer and are not a contractual commitment : only the general terms and conditions of the policy apply.

Documents for your multi-pet insurance

Is there a genuine multi-pet policy?

No. No French insurer offers a single contract covering every animal in a household. The principle remains one policy per animal. What can be pooled is the pricing and the administration, not the contract itself.

Is a discount applied from the second animal?

No insurer advertises one on its website. It is a commercial gesture that has to be asked for and negotiated, and it is not automatic. We price it at quotation across several companies, because the largest discount does not always produce the lowest total cost.

Can dogs, cats and exotic pets be combined?

It depends on the insurer. All of them cover dogs and cats ; only some also offer an exotic pet range, limited to the rabbit, the ferret, the parrot, the chinchilla and the guinea pig. Combining them is only possible within one company.

Should all the plans be identical?

No, and doing so is often a mistake. An older animal or one of a predisposed breed warrants a higher level of cover, while a young healthy animal can sit on an entry-level plan.

What happens when a new animal arrives?

A new policy is issued for that animal, with its own waiting periods, and the renewal date can usually be aligned with the others. The subscription age limits apply to it individually.

Are reptiles included?

No. Reptiles are not covered by any French veterinary fee policy, so they cannot be added to a household arrangement. Only liability, theft and equipment cover through your home policy applies to them.

    FAQ – Multi-Pet Insurance

Which plans when you have several pets?

Each animal keeps its own policy and its own level of cover, from 60 % to 100 % reimbursement for dogs and cats. Matching the level to each animal’s age and health is what controls the total cost : putting everyone on the same plan usually means over-insuring one animal and under-insuring another.

    Why group your policies?

Beyond any discount, grouping avoids duplicated cover, aligns the renewal dates and gives you one person to call when something goes wrong. It is also a good moment to check that the personal liability section of your home policy extends to all of your animals.
